Chilly weather is on the horizon here in the southeast. The cooler temperatures along with the rain gave me a reason to wrap myself in a blanket while watching football games this past weekend.

If you are struggling to get up and get moving on these chilly mornings, then plan to leave a bit early for the next two weeks.

McDonald’s is offering FREE McCafè coffee during breakfast hours from September 16-29, 2014.

For those of you, who love your morning coffee, allow McDonald’s to brew you a fresh cup each morning for FREE these next two weeks. Enjoy!

My taste buds have changed or, at least, become more tolerable to certain tastes over the years.

Paul has always liked southwestern food while I always struggled to find something on the menu that sounded good.

But after trying a little bit of Paul’s burrito each time he ordered it, I have acquired a taste for southwestern food.

Though I like the black beans, seasoned rice, and queso, I’m not wild about the guacamole and some of the tomato mixtures. However, I now have no problem ordering off a southwestern menu.

If you already love queso or just want to try it, then mark your calendars. Thursday, September 18, 2014 is FREE Queso Day at Moe’s Southwest Grill.

  • Each guest will receive a free 6 oz. queso with no purchase required.
  • The event will last all day – 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Our family enjoys this freebie. I purchase a couple extra bags of tortilla chips as we can make the cups of queso (thick, white cheese dip) last beyond the chips provided.

In past years, we have found some locations will offer the queso for FREE, but charge for the chips. If I have chips at home, then we can just get our queso to go. Happy scheduling, and

On Wednesday, August 6, 2014, A & W Restaurants will offer FREE small root beer floats from 2:00 p.m. to close.

This offer is limited to one FREE root beer float per person, while supplies last.

During this promotion, A & W Restaurants will raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project.

You may see a display and/or receive an invitation to donate to this organization.

No coupon is necessary, but you might want to check with your local A & W Restaurant to verify their participation.

Adjusting Your Calendar for these Upcoming Events

IHOP birthday 2014Seems like it’s birthday season this summer. Kicking off this week with their 56¢ short stacks, IHOP celebrated their 56th birthday.

Our family chose to visit during the dinner hour, and Paul ended up getting stuck at work. So, we made it on the list at 6:45 p.m. before the 7:00 p.m. cutoff.

Though we had our names on the list, we had a 45-minute wait. Now, instead of thinking of it as wasting 45 minutes, we saw two groups of friends we knew. With my children having spent time with one set of friends recently, we chatted with them, and let the kids play together.

The other set of friends were ones we had not seen for a long time. Thankfully, our recent friends were seated first, and then we caught-up with our long-time friends. It was great having time with them as I probably would not have reached out to catch up with them.

Seizing these moments made the evening special. With only a 46-minute wait-time, we were seated and enjoyed our short stacks. On this rare occasion, the tip was more than the purchased amount. 😀

Friday is definitely going to be a busy day with lots of fun memories. Take pictures and share either on one of these posts or Facebook. I’d love to see how your family dresses up for the occasion.

Our summer calendar continues to overflow with opportunities. Though we hate to say “no,” we just can’t do everything with everyone all of the time. However, we enjoy joining friends and getting together as often as we can.
