Thar she blows, Matey! Krispy Kreme Doughnuts is celebrating National Talk like a Pirate Day.

Did you know that pirates had a code of conduct? Being a female, I could not be a pirate, but I wouldn’t qualify anyway. They went to bed by 8:00 p.m. Arrgh!

Even if you cannot be a pirate, you can still participate in this Talk Like a Pirate Day celebration. Mark your calendars for Thursday, September 19, 2013 to visit a participating Krispy Kreme Doughnuts for two ways to earn FREE original glazed doughnuts.

Talk Like a Pirate

Valid only on September 19, 2012, any landlubber who walks the plank to a participating Krispy Kreme Doughnuts location and chatters like a pirate receives a treasured-reward – a FREE original glazed doughnut.

Dress Like a Pirate

To the serious buccaneer who arrives wearing 3 items from the below list goes a FREE dozen original glazed doughnuts. Any 3 of the following pirate items qualifies for dressing like a pirate:

Since my daughter is playing a princess pirate in a play, she is getting excited about visiting Krispy Kreme Doughnuts in her costume. 😉 This day was fun for us last year (see the picture on the right). We pulled our outfits together and seized a couple dozen doughnuts. Yum!

Moe’s Southwest Grill: Free Queso Day – September 19, 2013

Mark your calendars for Thursday, September 19, 2013, because Moe’s Southwest Grill is hosting Free Queso Day.

Each guest will receive a free 6 oz. Queso with no purchase required.

The event will last all day – 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Our family enjoys this freebie. I purchase a couple extra bags of tortilla chips as we can make the cups of Queso (thick, white cheese dip) last beyond the chips provided.

In past years, we have found some locations will offer the Queso for free, but charge for the chips. If I have chips at home, then we can just get our Queso to go.

Providing a possibly FREE family activity, Smithsonian Magazine presents Museum Day Live! on Saturday, September 28, 2013. Participating museums across the country admit guests with a Museum Day Live! ticket for FREE.

To get your FREE ticket, fill out this form. When your ticket arrives in your e-mail inbox, print it and redeem at your chosen location. Some museums will accept the ticket on the screen of your smart phone.

Each ticket will admit one person plus a guest. The tickets are a limit of one per e-mail address. If you need 4 tickets, then register with 2 e-mail addresses (e.g., personal and junk e-mail account).

Check with your chosen location for FREE admission for children. Some museums offer FREE admission for children ages 12 and under. For those museums participating but closed on Saturdays, check their website for an alternate day to use your Museum Day Live! ticket.

To prepare for a fun, inexpensive family outing, choose your museum, register, and wait for your ticket to arrive in your clutter-free inbox.

Participating Chick-fil-A restaurants will offer a FREE entrée to guests with reservations during the week of September 9-14, 2013.

The reservation process requires registration as Chick-fil-A will e-mail you the confirmation to bring on your chosen day.

To register for your FREE entrée at Chick-fil-A:

1. Click on this link

2. Choose your Chick-fil-A location

3. Select a day and time to visit during the week of September 9-14, 2013 in one-hour increments

4. Pick your breakfast entrée

5. Fill in the form with your name, e-mail, and other requested information

6. Confirm your choices

7. Check your e-mail inbox

8. Print your confirmation page to take with you to Chick-fil-A during your reservation time.

If you have multiple family members, you will need separate e-mail addresses for each guest. Our Chick-fil-A takes these reservations through the drive-thru making our morning commute less complicated.

As our morning commute to our Chick-fil-A may result in a traffic jam, I have chosen to share this special breakfast with Miss 3 after taking Mr. 8 and Miss 6 to school. Making our reservations for later in the morning will allow us a calm start to the day.

In using time wisely and saving on the cost of breakfast, Miss 3 and I will plan an outing. During our special time, we’ll eat our FREE breakfast and schedule time to explore the indoor playground.

This FREE entrée promotion is popular. When I made our reservations, I had to refresh a few times before I received the confirmation message. If the system gives you an error, just try again as this offer is worth using time wisely to snag. Happy reserving!
