Providing a possibly FREE family activity, Smithsonian Magazine presents Museum Day Live! on Saturday, September 28, 2013. Participating museums across the country admit guests with a Museum Day Live! ticket for FREE.

To get your FREE ticket, fill out this form. When your ticket arrives in your e-mail inbox, print it and redeem at your chosen location. Some museums will accept the ticket on the screen of your smart phone.

Each ticket will admit one person plus a guest. The tickets are a limit of one per e-mail address. If you need 4 tickets, then register with 2 e-mail addresses (e.g., personal and junk e-mail account).

Check with your chosen location for FREE admission for children. Some museums offer FREE admission for children ages 12 and under. For those museums participating but closed on Saturdays, check their website for an alternate day to use your Museum Day Live! ticket.

To prepare for a fun, inexpensive family outing, choose your museum, register, and wait for your ticket to arrive in your clutter-free inbox.

In using time wisely, plan ahead by ordering your ticket now and scheduling time with your family and friends on Saturday, September 28, 2013.  If your plans change and prevent you from attending, then no worries as your ticket is FREE.  Happy planning!

Question: Which type of museum will you choose?

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts: 76¢ Deal – July 13, 2013

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts: Buy One Dozen Original Glazed, Get a Duplicate Dozen for 76¢

Happy 76th Birthday, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts!

In celebration of their birthday, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts is offering customers a 76¢ deal all day on Saturday, July 13, 2013.

When you purchase one dozen of original glazed doughnuts, you can get a second dozen of the original glazed doughnuts for 76¢.

My favorite part about visiting Krispy Kreme Doughnuts is watching the doughnut process. A new Krispy Kreme Doughnuts location opened near our school this year.

This store installed a glass wall from ceiling to floor where all the doughnuts are made. I get mesmerized watching the entire operation while my children enjoy choosing one doughnut and following it through the process.

With a sale and a show, we might snag a fun family activity on Saturday. The hardest part for me will be declining the doughnuts. In keeping my sugar intake down, I am finally seeing some progress on my healthy journey. However, that is subject of another post because healthy and doughnuts don’t really go together, especially when celebrating a birthday.

Happy birthday, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts!

Marble Slab Creamery: Buy One, Get One for 30¢

July is National Ice Cream Month, and Marble Slab Creamery is offering a buy one, get one for 30¢ offer all month long.

Celebrating Happy Hour from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, guests who purchase a small or medium combination can purchase a second for 30¢.

If my girls chose, they would both settle on a Bear Necessities made with sweet cream and two scoops of gummy bears. My chocolate chip cookie dough-loving son might go with the Cookie Classic served with a homemade cookie and vanilla ice cream.

My favorite is Cookies ‘n Cream with vanilla and two scoops of Oreo cookie crumbs. Yum! Hubby is the more adventurous one. He likes to try something new like the Caramel Peanut Butter Crisp complete with sweet cream, crushed Butterfinger, chocolate chips, and caramel.

Though our summer is not as hot as usual (due to all the rain), we can still celebrate National Ice Cream Month. Planning a trip to your Marble Slab Creamery in the afternoon with a few friends may be the ticket to a fun activity for all. Happy National Ice Cream Month!

In celebrating our country’s independence, Earth Fare invites all Servicemen and Servicewomen to a Heroes Eat Free cookout on Sunday, June 30, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

By presenting your fire, police, military, or veteran’s identification, all heroes get a FREE Burgers for Bucks meal, up to $5, at participating Earth Fare locations.

Earth Fare Cookout Procedures

For those not familiar with the grocery store Earth Fare, you go to the deli section of the store, and the cookout is usually in front of the display cases.

You fill out a menu slip to place your order and give it to the employee. That employee will then fill your order and give you your food.

Then you proceed to checkout with your items and the ticket. At our local Earth Fare, seating is available.

Our Earth Fare Experience

Using coupons for FREE Burgers for Bucks meals, our family enjoyed lunch at Earth Fare last weekend. For the $5 price, we each received a good-size burger with lettuce and tomato and a generous helping of a side. Our choices of side included a large slice of watermelon, potato salad, or coleslaw.

The ticket indicated that adding cheese to the hamburger would cost an additional $.50, but at the cash register, we were not charged. I’m not sure if we were under the $5 limit, or if our Earth Fare is just generous.

To all Servicemen and Servicewomen, we thank you for serving our country. As a small token of appreciation, enjoy a FREE meal at Earth Fare as Heroes Eat Free on Sunday, June 30, 2013. Happy celebrating!
