On Friday, May 9, 2014, participating botanical gardens, arboretums, and conservatories offer FREE admission on National Public Gardens Day.

If you are considering a science membership that comes with a reciprocal gardens membership, then this is a great opportunity to try out a garden near you.

To find a participating location, please visit the National Public Gardens Day website.

If my mom lived closer, then I would plan a visit with her to a participating garden. When we visit Florida, we spend time walking through a local botanical garden to see the beautiful flora, birds, and waterfalls.

Many of the gardens, arboretums, and conservatories present special displays and programs on National Public Gardens Day. Enjoy!

For those of you near a participating Carvel location, mark your calendars for Thursday, May 1, 2014.

FREE Cone Day is from 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., and guests will receive a FREE junior cone with one of three ice cream choices: vanilla, chocolate, or salted caramel. Yum!

The following is how Carvel explained their FREE Cone Day along with their fundraiser on their website:

Carvel … America’s Freshest Ice Cream®, is launching its summer-long 80th anniversary celebration with Free Cone Day Thursday, May 1 from 3-8 p.m.

Participating Carvel® shoppes will treat guests to a free junior cone filled with their choice of freshly made vanilla, chocolate or their all-new salted caramel soft-serve ice cream.

In addition to enjoying free ice cream, guests can support a good cause on Free Cone Day. Throughout the day, Carvel will offer a $2 coupon book worth more than $20 in savings. 100% of all proceeds from sales of the coupon books will go towards a $30,000 donation to the American Red Cross® to support Disaster Relief.

This effort will raise the company’s total contributions to the American Red Cross to $80,000 over the last three years.“We hope everyone will come out on Free Cone Day and try one on us,” said Carvel President Scott Colwell. “I can’t think of a more appropriate way to kick-off our 80th anniversary celebration than giving our guests free, fresh ice cream and raising money for the American Red Cross®.”

Carvel serves only 100 percent delicious soft- serve and scooped ice cream treats and cakes that are hand-crafted daily at local Carvel shoppes. Guests this year can try the new salted caramel soft serve ice cream on Free Cone Day and for a limited time throughout summer, which features deliciously creamy caramel ice cream and a hint of salt.

Since its inception in 1934 as the first retail ice cream franchise in the country, Carvel has expanded its menu to include an extensive line of fresh soft – serve and scooped ice cream, take-home novelty treats and premium ice cream cakes.

For more information or to find the nearest Carvel shoppe, visit www.carvel.com.

If you choose to attend, then enjoy Carvel’s soft ice cream and, if you can, support the American Red Cross. Enjoy!

Happy FREE Cone Day!

On Sunday, April 27, 2014, participating Stevi B’s locations celebrate their 6th annual FREE Pizza Day.

Stevi B’s is a buffet-style restaurant. With choices of pasta, pizzas, and a salad bar, our family enjoys the atmosphere.

Our children enjoy the dessert pizzas as they usually have at least one chocolate option. You can also request your favorite pizza which they will make and bring to your table.

In addition to the buffet-style dine-in option, Stevi B’s also takes to-go orders. This FREE pizza is only available to-go and limited to one FREE pizza per family.

This year, Stevi B’s is offering a FREE Margherita thin crust to-go pizza to loyal customers, who like their Facebook page.

The Margherita pizza is made with fresh sliced tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, and basil on our light and crispy thin crust.

Once you “like” their page, you only need to select your location and enter your e-mail address. You will then be directed to another page whereby you may print your coupon.

This coupon needs to be printed, so be sure to access it on a computer with a printer. If not, you will need to save the page to open on another devise with print options.

If you have a participating Stevi B’s locations nearby and you would like to try this new menu item, then print your coupon and head to Stevi B’s on Sunday, April 27, 2014. Yum!

Question: If you could create your own pizza, what toppings would you add?
