Olive Garden: FREE Kid’s Meal with Purchase of Adult Meal Coupon

August 31, 2013 by Tracy

Olive Garden: FREE Kid’s Meal with Purchase of Adult Meal Coupon

On our last visit to Olive Garden, Paul and I used a FREE kid’s meal with purchase of adult meal coupon. We included Mr. 8 and Miss 6 in our date night as we headed to a planetarium showing using our science membership.

Available again, Olive Garden has this FREE kid’s meal with purchase of adult meal coupon valid Mondays – Thursdays until September 29, 2013.

The fine print indicates a limit of one coupon per visit with a maximum of 2 FREE kids’ meals. Therefore, a family or group of 2 adults and 2 children under the age of 12 can dine at a cost of the two adult meals.

Combining Coupons and Promotions

When Paul, Mr. 8, Miss 6, and I dined, Paul and I combined our coupon with the 2 can dine for $25 promotion. That promotion provided an appetizer or dessert along with 2 adult entrees, unlimited breadsticks, and our choice of soup or salad. Mr. 8, Miss 6, and I ordered the salad while Paul chose the minestrone soup. 😉

Though the 2 can dine for $25 promotion may not be active at this time, the NeverEnding Pasta Bowl promotion for $9.99 is currently available. So, if both adults order the NeverEnding Pasta Bowl, then 2 can dine for $20 and 2 children under age 12 get a FREE kid’s meal.

By combining a coupon, promotion, and our science membership, our group of 4 received dinner and entertainment for less than $10 per person for the evening.

Sharing Coupons and Promotions

In stretching our dollars, we challenge ourselves to see how much fun we can have spending the least amount of cash. With our game, we do not lie, steal, or cheat. We pay for parking, tips, and fees when appropriate.

Getting in on the fun, our children like to know how much we save verses how much we spend. Mr. 8 is great at figuring out how much we would have had to spend if we had not used a coupon or promotion. Realizing the importance of using money wisely, Mr. 8 often asks to present the coupon as his part of helping to save.

In stretching your dollars, bring your children along on your quests to save money. They will one day have their own accounts and realize the value of their earnings. Sharing your savings strategies will prepare them for when they are on their own. Happy teaching and stretching!

Question: When you have a choice, do you prefer a salad or a soup?

2012 Feed It Forward: Free Restaurant.com $10 e-Gift Certificates

December 1, 2012 by Tracy

One of my favorite programs is back, and I’m so excited to get started! Feed It Forward is a holiday program through Restaurant.com. In celebrating the gifting season, Feed It Forward will gift up to 100 of your friends, family members, business contacts, and anyone else you choose with a $10 Restaurant.com gift certificate!

Last year, I posted the instructions and sent my maximum of 40 certificates each day. In 2011, I took almost all month to send everyone on my list an e-gift certificate. This year with more friends, I started today. With the increase in the number of e-gift certificates sent going from 40 certificates per day in 2011 to 100 gifts per day in 2012, I may finish my list early this year. 😉

In stretching your dollars, you cannot get better than free. This program is now in its 5th year, and continues to gain momentum. I have personally used the program for 3 years. I love it, and look forward to giving my family and friends these restaurant e-gift certificates each year.

Feed It Forward Overview

You will need a free Restaurant.com account. You can either log in or sign up at Feed It Forward. When you sign in, you can access your e-mail contact list and Facebook account.

When you accept the Feed It Forward app, an e-mail confirmation will arrive in your inbox. Save that e-mail. After you have gifted everyone in your e-mail contacts and/or Facebook account, return to that e-mail and unsubscribe from the app. This way, you cut off the app from reporting your activity.

Feed It Forward Process

You can create one card, write one message, choose 100 recipients, and click send. In completing my first batch today, I spent about 10 minutes. Of course, part of that time was trying to remember my password as I was too lazy to go upstairs to look it up.

Your recipients will receive an e-gift certificate. They will need a Restaurant.com account to retrieve their gift. Once activated, your recipient gets to choose which restaurant to visit.

In using time wisely and stretching your dollars, start at Feed It Forward. Providing gifts for everyone on your list (and those who had no chance of making it) is possible. The best part is that there is no cost to you. As many are struggling to make ends meet this holiday season, allow Feed It Forward to gift you with a free Christmas for family and friends. Happy savings!

Question: Who can you now cross off your list?

Are you considering paring down your Christmas list this year due to unavailable funds? Keeping within and under your Christmas budget may be getting tighter with tough decisions to make.

Do you still desire to give to those distance relatives, friends, and helpful acquaintances? Need some help? Enter, Feed it Forward. This is a fabulous program to help in stretching your dollars. You can gift $10 restaurant.com e-Gift cards to 40 people per day for FREE!

Feed It Forward is in its fourth year. Each year the program has grown. Need more details? These descriptions are located on Feed It Forwards’ web site:

Ready to spread some Christmas cheer? This is so exciting!

Getting Started

1. Click on this Feed it Forward link

2. Select the red “START GIVING FREE GIFTS” button

3. Sign in with your Feed it Forward account, Restaurant.com account (which you already have, right?), create a new account, or log in through Facebook

NOTE: Since I signed up with Restaurant.com using my junk e-mail account, the eGift cards are sent with that e-mail address. I have already received responses from concerned friends since they did not recognize the e-mail address. After my explanation, they understand. But if you use your junk e-mail account to register with Restaurant.com, be ready for some skeptical feedback from your recipients.

Sending the Gifts

1. Select your friends either through your e-mail account, Facebook, or enter their e-mail addresses manually

2. Choose your gift card design, greeting, and personal message

3. Confirm and your e-Gift will be on its way

Enjoy sending surprises to your family and friends each day through Christmas Day (while supplies last). Besides the joy of giving, enjoy stretching your dollars by gifting while staying within your Christmas budget. Going through the process the first day will take the most time. Once your account is setup, you will be able to breeze through while using time wisely. Keep stretching your dollars and Merry Christmas!

Question: To whom are you gifting these eGift cards? I sent them to my family and then friends, who are struggling financially this Christmas season. Tomorrow, I get to gift 40 more. What a blessing!

10 Ways to Cut the Expense of Eating Out – Part 5 of 5

April 23, 2011 by Tracy

As our 5-week series comes to a close, I hope you have either learned or been reminded of some options to lower your out-of-pocket expenses while enjoying a meal at a restaurant. Thus far, we have considered options 1-8 in Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, and Part 4. In this fifth and final week, we will look at the children’s menu and reward programs.

OPTION 9:     Check the price of the children’s menu.

When you have more than one child eating from the kid’s menu, you might want to consider the cost. In some cases, we have found purchasing an adult entrée to split between our two oldest children (ages 3 and 6) is more cost-efficient than purchasing two kid’s menu items. If our children drink water, then we don’t need to consider that the drink may be included in the kid’s menu item.

As our third child begins to eat more, splitting an adult entrée between the three of them may be more cost-effective than purchasing 3 separate kids’ meals. Another option is to check the limits on coupons. In the fine print, the coupon should state limit 1 per customer or limit 2 per table. If the limit is 2 and the coupon is a buy one entrée, get one free, then purchasing 2 entrees to get 4 meals would be our best option. Any extra food will be eaten on leftover night. Our decision when ordering will depend on specials, coupons, and total cost.

OPTION 10:    Sign-up for reward programs.

In an effort to encourage loyalty to their restaurant, some establishments offer a reward program. Here are two programs of which I am aware:

1. Subway: Not all Subway restaurants participate in the Rewards program. For those that do, here is how the program works.

  • Earn 1 point for each dollar you spend.
  • Request a Reward card at your Subway.
  • Redeemyour points for the following menu items:
    • 10 Points = 1 Cookie
    • 15 Points = Bag of chips
    • 20 Points = 21 oz. drink
    • 30 Points = Deli sandwich
    • 50 Points = Regular 6-inch sub
    • 60 Points = Regular wrap
    • 75 Points = Regular foot-long sub

2. P.F. Chang’s:  When you sign up for the Warrior Card and present it at the time of your visit, you will receive a 10% discount on your bill. This discount cannot be combined with any other offer. If you have a coupon, then consider which option will save you the most on the menu choices chosen.

As we conclude this series of 10 ways to cut the expense of eating out, I hope you have some options available to you to ease the burden of feeding your family when you are short on time. Remember that you can combine these 10 options to maximize your savings. Do you have other suggestions? If so, please leave a comment sharing your ideas.
