Coupon-ology: Overview

Coupon-ology: Overview

Photograph Credit: Microsoft Images

For almost two years, I have shared how our family saves money while feeding our family. Often, I explain how and when I use coupons, but I have not posted a coupon series. My decision thus far has been because so many other blogs do a great job posting only coupon usage and deals.

In subscribing to those websites, my Google Reader gets so many posts that requires lots of time to weed through the deals to find the informative posts. Realizing that in using time wisely, I can fill this gap.

With mostly one post a day, I’m not going to overwhelm you with deals. I will stick to the facts and share how I have found using coupons a big benefit for our budget.

In our study of coupons, thus coupon-ology, I will start a 5-part coupon series next Thursday with the following topics:

Coupon-ology

Part 1: Purge coupons

Part 2: Organize coupons

Part 3: Gather coupons

Part 4: Matching coupons

Part 5: Redeeming coupons

During this study, I will guide you from start to finish in creating an organizational system that works for you. My system has evolved from pouches to binders over the years. You do not need a filing cabinet, a 5-inch binder, or multiple copies of the Sunday paper. Even if you have few coupons, you can still save as your best discounts come with buy one, get one free and deep sale prices.

Weekly Project: Put all your coupons in one spot.

In using time wisely, I plan to give you multiple solutions and options as one-coupon-system does not fit all. Similar to menu planning, it may take some time to find what works for you. Join me as we take this coupon adventure together. Happy couponing!

Question: What do you like or dislike about using coupons?

I’m anxious to read this series. I was doing really good with the coupons for a while but just stopped. Maybe this will motivate me to pick up my couponing habits again.

Sometimes taking a break is a good thing, Jean. I know I need it sometimes. When that break turns into a month and you don’t know where to start, I’m here to help you back. We will start next week with purging what you have. We don’t want to add anymore until we know where we stand. If you get stuck, confused, see a different way, or anything else, please feel free to ask or comment. Glad this series is worth your time and energy. 🙂
