Pizza is usually a nice reward. Participating throughout the school year, my children enjoy earning their BOOK IT! certificates for FREE personal pan pizzas.

If you are a homeschooling family and want to participate in BOOK IT! this coming school year, then sign up your children ages 5-12 before the deadline on September 1, 2014 or while supplies last.

For this summer, Pizza Hut BOOK IT! is offering a sweepstakes. All who qualify will be entered into a drawing with a total of 49 winners with one of those winners also receiving the grand prize.

The rules have changed since last year, but the details, including links for more information, are included below regarding the Pizza Hut BOOK IT! Spark Your Greatness Sweepstakes.

Pizza Hut BOOK IT! Spark Your Greatness

Participants

Open to children ages 5-12.

Program Length

Submission must be sent or postmarked by August 15, 2014.

Goal

Read any 5 books.

Requirements

Fill out the official entry form including title and author of 5 books your children read. You may then submit on-line or via mail.

Redemption

If your child is one of the 49 winners, then a package will arrive via the mail to your doorstep.

Reward

Of those who submit the forms, a random drawing will produce 49 winners. Each winner will receive the following prize package worth approximately $88:

      • One (1) Tote Bag
      • One (1) $20 Pizza Hut Gift Card
      • One (1) Boxed Set of Diary of a Wimpy Kid Hardback Books, Books 1-7 and Do-It-Yourself Journal (8 books)
      • One (1) Diary of a Wimpy Kid Hard Luck Hardback Book
      • One (1) Diary of a Wimpy Kid Notebook

From the 49 winners, those who also play the Instagram scavenger hunt will be entered for the grand prize package worth approximately $127. This winner will receive both the grand prize and one of the 49 second prize packages. The grand prize includes the following:

      • One (1) Tote Bag
      • One (1) $50 Pizza Hut Gift Card
      • One (1) Autographed Diary of a Wimpy Kid Hardback Book, Book 1
      • One (1) Set of Diary of a Wimpy Kid Hardback Book, Books 2-8 (7 books)
      • One (1) Diary of a Wimpy Kid Do-It-Yourself Journal
      • One (1) Set of Your Best Ideas Notebook (3 notebooks)

Pizza Hut BOOK IT! Spark Your Greatness Benefits

In addition to the sweepstakes, BOOK IT also has the Instagram scavenger hunt. One completes the tass, takes a photograph, and correctly uploads to Instagram. All submissions must be entered by August 15, 2014.

This program has greatly improved since last year. Having multiple ways to participate is great. To win, all must submit an entry form and read 5 books. For a chance at the grand prize, one must also complete the Instagram hunt.

Though the winners are random, I am thankful for another summer reading program. My children will each read more than 5 books. If we win, then it will be a nice surprise. If not, then it was just a few moments of my time entering them into this sweepstakes.

In using time wisely, spending a few moments entering a sweepstakes is worth it for me. You may think differently, especially if your child is not interested in the prize package.

The book prize might not motivate, but the chance to win a $20 Pizza Hut gift card might be worth the few minutes to submit an entry form. Happy summer reading!

Our Family Lunch for $3.24

February 4, 2014 by Tracy

Our Family Lunch for $3.24

Our Family Lunch for $3.24These weather patterns are throwing off my body. From freezing cold and snowy days last week to temperatures in the low 70s today, I’m getting confused on when to wear long-sleeved outfits. The forecast for tomorrow is back to a high of 40.

Besides trying to figure out my wardrobe, my sinuses are having difficulty adjusting. I go from a pressure headache to constantly blowing my nose. I’m getting worn out, so I’m resting more, drinking lots of water, and relaxing. Thus far, it is working to help me stay healthy.

In relaxing with my family last week, Paul, Miss 3, and I visited Mr. 8 and Miss 6 at school. We purchased our family lunch for $3.24 and received 5 personal pan pizzas and 4 stuffed pizza rollers. What a deal!

Four FREE Personal Pan Pizzas

Our two older children participate in the Book It reading program at their school. When they reach their monthly reading goal (set by their teacher), they receive a coupon for a FREE one-topping personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut. As our local Pizza Hut accepts multiple coupons at one time, we used 4 coupons to receive four FREE personal pan pizzas.

FREE Stuffed Pizza Rollers

By signing up for e-mail updates and offers, I had an anniversary with Pizza Hut. To thank me, Pizza Hut sent me a coupon for a FREE order of stuffed pizza rollers with any online food purchase.

$3.24 Personal Pan Pizza

Since we needed one more pizza and an online food purchase, we chose another personal pan pizza for $3. With tax, our total came to $3.24.

Pizza Hut Tips

Since I ordered 2 cheese personal pan pizzas that incur an additional charge for the cheese, I placed two online orders. The first order was the 4 personal pan pizzas, and the second order was the 1 personal pan pizza and the stuffed pizza rollers.

By splitting up the orders according to the coupons used, the first order totaled FREE, and the second order came to $3.24.

In stretching our dollars, we combined the Book It rewards with an anniversary coupon to feed our family of 5 a pizza lunch costing $3.24. At a price of $.65 per person, we got a steal of a deal.

As you combine rewards, coupons, and promotions, the savings will pile up. Though money is tight for many, the key is finding combinations of discounts to stretch your dollars. Happy savings!

Question: How are you saving during these crazy winter temperatures?

Pizza Hut: Book It Rewards

June 1, 2013 by Tracy

Pizza Hut: Book It Rewards

Pizza Hut: Book It RewardsIn challenging my school-aged children to meet their monthly reading goals, they earn Pizza Hut’s Book It rewards.

Pizza Hut Book It Rewards for my Family

Since my son was in K5, he has met each reading goal resulting in about 24 certificates from his teachers with each redeemed for a FREE personal pan pizza.

The first year of participation (2010), I adhered to the expiration date on each certificate. As each coupon states it expires at the end of the month granted, we used the coupons each month.

When my son went into first grade (2011), his teacher indicated that multiple vouchers could be used at the same time. Checking with two local Pizza Hut locations, I verified that we could use multiple coupons in one transaction.

Last year (2011-2012), my son saved up his coupons all year and treated our family to a pizza dinner after a soccer game. He was so excited to provide the meal with his hard-earned coupons. We were very appreciative of his hard work and willingness to share his reward with us.

Pizza Hut: Book It Rewards

This year (2012-2013), both my son (2nd grade) and my daughter (K5) earned Book It coupons. We saved them up. On the Friday half days of school, we picked up pizzas and ate them at our local jump zone before playing all afternoon. My daughter was very excited to participate this year as she waited her turn to earn the coupons.

In using time wisely to invest in my children’s reading, our family benefits from the coupons earned. In saving our coupons to provide a meal for the family, we enjoy an outing while stretching our dollars.

Pizza Hut Book It Rewards for You

School Program

If your school does not participate in the FREE Pizza Hut Book It program, then pass along the Book It website information to your school’s administration.

Homeschool Program

For those of you who homeschool, your registration is currently open through September 1, 2013. Each family will need to register for the coupon booklets. The FREE Book It program is for children in kindergarten through 6th grade.

Heads Up on a NEW Summer Reading Series

With summer on the horizon and at least 14 summer reading programs available, I will take the next 2 weeks to highlight one summer reading program a day. Reading is a fundamental in life, and so many organizations are willing to reward our readers this summer.

I encourage my children and desire to develop a love of learning through reading. As the number of programs increase with different requirements and rewards, I will invest my time to research these options to focus on one each day. At the end of the 2 weeks, I will pick up where I left off on the documents and coupon series.

As you continue encouraging a lifetime of learning, the Pizza Hut Book It program partners with parents and teachers by offering rewards for reaching those goals. If you do not have a child within this age group, you may know of a family, relative, or friend who may benefit. Feel free to pass along this information to help them in encouraging reading while stretching their dollars. Happy savings!

Pizza Hut’s Book It Program

March 4, 2011 by Tracy

Pizza Hut - Book It
Pizza Hut's Book It Program

Photograph Credit: Pizza Hut

My son’s class participates in Pizza Hut’s Book It Program. His teacher assigns an amount of reading time to be completed during the month (i.e. 300 minutes).

Each day I log the amount of time Hubby and I have read to him. At the end of the month, I add up the minutes and submit my son’s reading log back to his teacher.

When we meet the set goal (i.e. 300 minutes), his teacher sends home a Book It coupon. We can then take the coupon to any Pizza Hut and receive a free one-topping personal pan pizza during that month.

Not only does my son enjoy his pizza, he also sees the rewards of reading. My daughter is also excited about joining the reading program because she would really like to have her own pizza.

I usually hang on to the coupon and use it on a day we need to stay at school.  When that day arrives, I will redeem the Book It coupon at our local Pizza Hut. My son will eat his own personal pan pizza, and I will purchase a $6 full pizza pie for the girls and me to share.

This arrangement is a win-win situation. My kids enjoy eating lunch at school with their friends, and I enjoy a meal with my kids without breaking the family budget.
