Michaels: Father’s Day Crafts

June 17, 2011 by Tracy

Today and tomorrow, Michaels Craft Stores have free Make-It Take-It Father’s Day projects for children ages 3 and up. The projects are different for each day, and the supplies are limited.

When our family attended the Thomas and Friends Make-It Take-It event (about 2 years ago), we arrived early and received the last wooden train 2 minutes into the event. Of course, the Thomas event was well attended, but the supplies really are limited.

If you are planning to be out, then you might want to stop by for the event. For me, I would not tell my kids about the event to avoid any disappointment that may be had. 🙂

If you can make it, here are the details:

Friday, June 17 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Father’s Day Card Event FREE Make-It Take-It

Create a thoughtful card for Father’s Day. Make it extra special with words of loving encouragement. While supplies last. Ages 3 and up.

Saturday, June 18 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Father’s Day Key Chain Event FREE Make-It Take-It

Create a handmade keepsake for Father’s Day. Design your keychain creation with lots of love. While supplies last. Ages 3 and up.

Father’s Day: Personalized Photo Cards

May 27, 2011 by Tracy

If June flies by as quickly as May, then Father’s Day on Sunday, June 19 will be here soon. In past years, I have created personalized photo cards for each of my children to give to Paul. Since the cost of most photo cards start at $2.99, one can quickly spend upwards of $10 just on cards. Ouch!

Thankfully, we can get these cards for the price of shipping through Shutterfly.com. Heather over at Freebies4Mom.com shares the details for claiming 5 free cards for $5.99. This deal ends on June 9. I purchased 5 Father’s Day cards with this same deal (different promotional code) last week. For this deal you can either order 5 identical cards or 5 different cards. I could not order 3 different cards and 2 identical cards. When I was charged full price for the second identical card, I removed it from the shopping cart and created an additional card. Then the promotional code worked, and my order is being processed.

You will save money, but you will also spend time creating these cards. For me, the time is well spent since the cards are personalized with pictures of each of my kids with their Daddy. If you are looking for other personalized gifts for Dad, check out this post from centsiblesavings.com.  If you find other inexpensive personalized gifts for Father’s Day, then please share the details in the comments section.
