Our family enjoys visiting museums from art and historical to science and nature and a great opportunity is on the horizon.

Providing a possible FREE family activity, Smithsonian Magazine presents Museum Day Live! on Saturday, September 27, 2014.

Participating museums across the country admit two guests with a Museum Day Live! ticket for FREE.

Slightly different from past years, your FREE ticket is available to download once you choose the museum.

Also, some museums will accept your ticket on the screen of your smart phone.

To get your FREE ticket, follow these steps:

  1. Create or login to your account
  2. Select your state
  3. Choose your museum
  4. Download your ticket to print or to show at the museum

Each ticket will admit one person plus a guest. The tickets are a limit of one per e-mail address. If you need 4 tickets, then register with 2 e-mail addresses (e.g., personal and junk e-mail account). Read the ticket closely as some museums are limiting the offer to one Museum Day Live! ticket per household.

Check with your chosen location for FREE admission for children. Some museums offer FREE admission for children ages 12 and under. For those museums participating but closed on Saturdays, check their website for an alternate day to use your Museum Day Live! ticket.

To prepare for a fun, inexpensive family outing, create or login to your account, select your state, choose your museum, and download your FREE ticket.

In using time wisely, plan ahead by ordering your ticket now and scheduling time with your family and friends on Saturday, September 27, 2014. If your plans change and prevent you from attending, then no worries as your ticket was FREE. Happy planning!

Question: Which type of museum will you choose?

REMINDER: Museum Day – September 29, 2012

Don’t forget. Next Saturday, September 29, 2012, is Smithsonian Magazine’s Museum Day. Though free, you need a museum ticket to get into your selected museum. If you haven’t reserved your spot, claim it now.

After sending your request, you will receive an e-mail with your ticket to print.

Last year our family went to an art museum where the children received free admission. This year, I chose a children’s museum and am bracing myself for a packed house.

Even with two tickets, we will pay for one admission since each ticket admits one person and a guest. With our family of 5 and no free admission for the toddler, I gladly pay for one admission since I refuse to pay full price for this museum. 😉

In using time wisely, I considered our schedule and chose a museum we all could enjoy. I think we will have a blast next Saturday at our chosen museum. Happy choosing!

Question: What types of museums does your family enjoy?

You will need to reserve your ticket, print the ticket when it is e-mailed to you, and redeem it at your chosen location. Though the ticket is only for 2, check to see if children are admitted for free. Many age limits are 12 and under. Hope you can snag a free to inexpensive family outing.

Enjoy using time wisely with your family this weekend!
