Using Time Wisely: Counting my Blessings (119 – 140)

With the experiments of the monthly posts in January and April, I have been remiss in adding to the counting my blessings posts. Keeping a spirit of thankfulness overrides the difficulties of life.

The struggles will come, and some I cannot control. However, I can control my reactions, responses, and attitude in the midst of those trials.

Choosing gratitude is not always easy nor my first response.

However, God only wants what is best for us and allows us to go through the difficulties to strengthen our dependence on Him.

Having previously counted 118 blessings, I continue counting with these blessings:

119. One snow day this winter where my children enjoyed sledding and building snowmen.

120. Memberships that provide lots of family fun throughout the year.

121. Friends that enjoy playing card and board games until past our bedtime.

122. My Heavenly Father, who provides me with daily instructions and focus from His Word.

123. Girlfriends, who provide an understanding shoulder and encouragement along the way.

124. A listening mentor, who provides experience on this road of motherhood.

125. Supporting husband, ready to hold me while I talk it out.

126. Understanding mother, who has walked this path alone and sees that I am well-protected.

127. Giggling girls curled up in my oldest daughter’s bed hiding from their brother, who apparently does not play their game.

128. My son, who goes to soccer practice even when he would rather quit and stay home.

129. Partnering with my son’s teacher to challenge without frustrating him.

130. An expert teacher’s help to create a summer plan of attack to prepare my daughter for first grade in the fall.

131. Random hugs from my children.

132. Coupons to save our family money at the grocery store.

133. Patient readers who understand when life gets in the way of blog posts and updates.

134. Bluehost personnel re-installing my blog from a backup when a file corrupted.

135. Dependable Internet service providing the means to publish posts.

136. Meeting Crystal Paine, the owner of Money Saving Mom, at a home school convention.

137. Medical equipment confirming a sprain to my knee.

138. Quick healing from my knee sprain.

139. The time our children spend with their grandparents.

140. Fantastic mom, grandmother, aunt, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, mentor, and friends, who I love, respect, and honor on Mother’s Day.

Stopping to count my blessings takes my focus off immediate problems. In the scope of eternity, my little problems will fade away. Keeping my eyes on my Creator, I look beyond myself and depend on Him.

No matter your circumstances, you can count your blessings. This exercise will remind you of the good in your life rather than dwelling on the troubles flooding your mind. May you see the good all around you as you count your blessings. Happy counting!

Question: For what are you thankful?
