Though we are back from our long and much-needed vacation, I am far from caught up and in my groove. With late nights, late mornings, and naps as needed, Iโm not sure I want to fully recover from our vacation routine. ๐
Overcoming the piles of laundry, snagging the last few back-to-school items, and squeezing in those last days of summer fun, I have mixed feelings about this week of vacation recovery. On the one hand, I am ready to get back on a routine as I really. need. my. exercise. time. back. I look forward to keeping the same routine each day and knowing where to fit in exercise, errands, cleaning, homework, and extra activities.
But the flip side of this equation is that our summer fun is coming to a close. Gone are the late nights watching the Olympic athletes strive for gold, the all-day carefree days spent splashing and swimming at the water park, the family outings, summer picnics, and double-header baseball games. In using time wisely, I have maximized the time I have had with my kids this summer. We are not promised today, tomorrow, this school year, or next summer.
As I plan for our new routine (taking effect this week), I choose to enjoy the process. This season of change will have its challenges, but with brand-new school supplies, new teachers, and a fresh start, Iโm embracing this up-coming school year.
With no regrets from the summer, I press on. Like the mound of clothes in the laundry pile, the start of this new school year may overwhelm. But by taking the pile and sorting it โ breaking it down into manageable chunks โ I will find a schedule that works for our family. This is my plan as I emerge from vacation recovery . . . almost.
While you finish your summer or adapt to a new routine, press on without regrets. Make sure the important things get done today while using time wisely.
Question: How is your schedule or routine changing? ย

LOL – love the laundry pile!!! I know that site all too well ๐
It is hard to get back to a ‘normal’ routine. I’m having a hard time getting set for homeschooling and that routine is still pretty lax… but I’m enjoying the NOT HAVING TO DO ANYTHING AT ANY SPECIFIC TIME routine right now!
Enjoy the end of summer my friend! I know you’ll make the best of the last few days with the family! ๐

Tell me about it! Still working on the laundry tonight. I think I’m on the 5th load. ๐
So glad you are still enjoying those summer days. Not sure who penned the “lazy” part of summer because we stay running. I love it. My kids are always on the go. Even when we enjoy a day at home, my kids want suggestions or a little structure.
After our Back-to-School meetings, we are gearing up to hit the ground running this week. Ready or not, here it comes. ๐ Thanks for hanging in there with me on the laundry pile, Jen!
